Accessibility Statement

We are committed to making this website accessible to everyone, regardless of disability or the technology they use. This statement applies to www.komecare.co.uk, operated by Kome Care Ltd.

Statement prepared: June 2026 Partially Conformant — WCAG 2.1 AA

Partially Conformant — WCAG 2.1 Level AA

This website is partially conformant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 level AA. Some parts of the content do not yet fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively working to resolve all known issues. A full independent audit is scheduled for Q3 2026.

1. Our Commitment to Accessibility

Why accessible design matters to us

Kome Care provides care services to people across London and Essex, including many individuals and families who use assistive technology to access online information. We believe every person, regardless of disability, age, or the technology they use, deserves equal access to the information and services on our website.

We are committed to making www.komecare.co.uk accessible in accordance with:

  • The Equality Act 2010 — which requires reasonable adjustments to avoid disadvantaging disabled people.
  • The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
  • The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA — the internationally recognised accessibility standard.

We will never penalise, disadvantage, or restrict access for any user because of a disability. If any part of our website presents a barrier to you, please contact us and we will do everything we can to help.

2. What This Website Currently Supports

Accessibility features already in place

We have built the following accessibility features into this website. You should be able to:

Resize Text

Zoom up to 300% without text spilling off the screen.

Keyboard Navigation

Navigate the entire site using a keyboard alone, without a mouse.

Voice Control

Use speech recognition software (e.g. Dragon NaturallySpeaking) to navigate.

Screen Readers

Compatible with JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver (most recent versions).

Focus Indicators

Visible focus outlines on all interactive elements for keyboard users.

Skip Navigation

A "Skip to main content" link is available at the top of every page for keyboard users.

Colour Contrast

Main text and interactive elements are designed to meet WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios.

Plain Language

We write content in plain English to ensure it is easy to understand.

If you have a disability and use assistive technology, AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use.

3. Compliance Status

Our current level of conformance with WCAG 2.1 AA

This website is partially conformant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 level AA.

"Partially conformant" means some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. Known limitations are listed in Section 4. We are committed to full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance and have an active improvement programme in place.

Kome Care Ltd is committed to making its website accessible in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 and the Equality Act 2010.

4. Known Accessibility Issues

Non-conformances we are actively working to fix

We know some parts of this website are not yet fully accessible. The issues below are non-compliances with WCAG 2.1 AA, not disproportionate burdens. All are scheduled for resolution.

5. Content Out of Scope

Content exempt from the Accessibility Regulations

The following content is not within the scope of the Accessibility Regulations 2018 and therefore exempted from this statement:

  • Third-party content embedded on the site (e.g. Google Maps, CQC inspection widget) that is neither funded, developed, nor under the direct control of Kome Care Ltd.
  • PDF documents published before 23 September 2018 that are not essential to providing our services — we will update or replace these on request.

If you need any content in an alternative accessible format, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

8. Technical Information

Technologies relied upon for accessibility

This website relies on the following technologies for its accessibility:

  • HTML5 — semantic markup with appropriate heading hierarchy, landmark regions, and ARIA attributes.
  • CSS3 — responsive design with no content hidden purely via CSS in a way that affects screen readers.
  • WAI-ARIA — roles, states, and properties to enhance screen reader comprehension where native HTML semantics are insufficient.
  • JavaScript — used progressively; core content and navigation remain accessible without JavaScript.
  • Bootstrap 5 — accessible-first CSS framework for responsive layout.
  • Font Awesome — all decorative icons are aria-hidden; informative icons include accessible labels.

Disproportionate Burden

We have not made any assessments of disproportionate burden at this time. All identified accessibility issues are being prioritised for resolution as part of our standard development cycle.

10. Preparation of This Statement

When this statement was created and last reviewed

This accessibility statement was prepared in June 2026. It was last reviewed on 14 June 2026.

This website was last tested against WCAG 2.1 AA in June 2026 using a combination of automated tools (including Lighthouse and axe DevTools) and manual inspection using keyboard navigation and NVDA. The test was carried out by the Kome Care web development team.

A full independent WCAG 2.1 AA audit is scheduled for Q3 2026. This statement will be updated following that audit to reflect any additional findings and remediation actions.
