Palliative Care at Home

Expert Palliative Care in the Comfort of Home

Palliative care is specialist support for anyone living with a serious or life-limiting illness. In line with NICE and NHS guidance, it can begin from the point of diagnosis rather than only in the later stages. Kome Care provides compassionate, nurse-led palliative care across London that relieves symptoms, supports emotional wellbeing, and helps people live as fully and comfortably as possible. This often continues for many months or years, frequently alongside ongoing medical treatment.

Palliative care and end of life care are closely linked, but they are not the same thing. Palliative care is about quality of life at any stage of a serious illness. End of life care is the more focused, intensive comfort care provided in the final weeks and days. If your loved one is approaching that stage, our dedicated end of life care service helps the transition feel calm and continuous.

Frequently Asked Questions

Palliative care at home is specialist support for people living with a serious or life-limiting illness, focused on relieving symptoms and improving quality of life. It can begin from diagnosis and run alongside ongoing treatment, and includes pain and symptom control, personal care, emotional support, and practical help for family carers.
We work closely with community palliative care nurses, GP teams, Marie Curie, and hospice at home teams to ensure coordinated, joined-up care.
Palliative care can start at any stage of a serious illness, often soon after diagnosis, and it does not mean treatment is stopping. In line with NHS and NICE guidance, palliative care provided early and alongside ongoing treatment helps manage symptoms and maintain quality of life for as long as possible.
We share the practical and emotional load: explaining what to expect, offering flexible respite so family carers can rest, and providing a clinical team you can reach for reassurance. Our aim is to support the whole household, not only the person who is unwell.
