Specialist support for anyone living with a serious or life-limiting illness. Support with symptoms and everyday quality of life, for the person and the people around them, at any stage of the illness.
Palliative care is specialist support for anyone living with a serious or life-limiting illness. In line with NICE and NHS guidance, it can begin from the point of diagnosis rather than only in the later stages. Kome Care provides compassionate, nurse-led palliative care across London that relieves symptoms, supports emotional wellbeing, and helps people live as fully and comfortably as possible. This often continues for many months or years, frequently alongside ongoing medical treatment.
Palliative care and end of life care are closely linked, but they are not the same thing. Palliative care is about quality of life at any stage of a serious illness. End of life care is the more focused, intensive comfort care provided in the final weeks and days. If your loved one is approaching that stage, our dedicated end of life care service helps the transition feel calm and continuous.
Support with pain, breathlessness and other distressing symptoms within the agreed care plan, and quick escalation to the clinicians responsible for prescribing when something changes.
Sensitive personal care that preserves dignity and adapts to changing needs as illness progresses.
Empathetic presence and guidance, honouring cultural, religious, and personal values throughout.
Practical support and emotional guidance for family carers, with flexible respite to prevent burnout.
Prompting, assistance or administration by trained and competent staff, with medication recorded and concerns escalated. Our staff do not prescribe or alter medication independently.
An on-call route at any hour for clinical, safeguarding or service concerns on an existing package, with senior clinical and Registered Manager oversight behind it.
A serious illness rarely changes in one dramatic moment. It shows up in breathing, pain or discomfort, mobility, appetite, hydration, alertness, skin condition, continence, cognition, or a general sense that someone is not themselves today. A carer who sees the same person regularly is often the first to notice.
Care professionals work to the person’s care plan and escalation procedure. Where they identify a significant clinical concern, it gets escalated to the people who can act on it. And where emergency help is needed, staff are trained to seek it immediately — urgent deterioration never waits for management approval first.
This phrase gets used loosely across the care sector, and on a palliative package it matters that you know exactly what it covers.
What it does not mean is that a nurse is physically present in the home around the clock, or that Kome Care is an emergency medical service. In a medical emergency, call 999.
