The Person Behind Kome Care

A Nurse’s Vision for Better Care at Home

Kome Care was founded on a simple but powerful belief: everyone deserves dignified, compassionate and clinically informed care in the comfort of their own home. That belief grew directly from Debora Kiladejo’s experience as a registered nurse and her understanding of the difference safe, personal and accountable care can make.

In Her Own Words

The Story Behind Kome Care

Debora’s route into healthcare began with an NHS work-experience opportunity. That first step led to NHS bank work and gave her an early understanding of what providing care involves. Over time, healthcare became more than a job, it became the career she wanted to build.

In 2014, Debora began her nursing degree, graduating in 2017 with a 2:1. She went on to work as a registered nurse in the NHS and through agency nursing. These roles exposed her to different healthcare environments and to the challenges individuals and families can experience when care becomes complicated or poorly coordinated.

Her nursing career shaped her understanding of professional responsibility. She learned that good care requires more than completing tasks. It involves recognising changes, managing risks, communicating clearly and responding appropriately when someone’s needs change.

She also saw how important it is to protect the parts of life that matter to each person, including their privacy, routines, relationships, independence and ability to make everyday choices.

Debora founded Kome Care in 2020 to bring professional standards and personal care together. Her aim was to build a service where people are treated as individuals, families receive clear information and carers have the training and support needed to carry out their roles safely.

Today, Debora is Kome Care’s Founder, Director, Registered Manager and Nominated Individual. She leads the organisation’s approach to quality, safety, clinical governance, safeguarding and service development, working alongside Kome Care’s care coordination, operational and frontline teams.

Leadership Message

Arranging care for someone important to you can feel overwhelming. You may be worried, unsure what type of support is needed or comparing several providers.

I want families who contact Kome Care to feel listened to and able to ask questions. They should understand what support can be provided, who is responsible for their care and how concerns or changing needs will be managed.

Care should never depend on making the biggest promise. It should depend on making the right one.

When I founded Kome Care, I wanted to build the kind of care organisation I would trust with someone important to me. That means care should be kind and personal, but it also has to be safe, well planned and accountable. As people's needs become more complex, that responsibility becomes even greater. My role is to make sure Kome continues developing the people, clinical governance and standards needed to deliver that care properly — while never forgetting that there is a person and a family behind every care package.

Career

Professional Experience

Beginning Her Career in Healthcare

Debora’s career in healthcare began with an NHS work-experience opportunity. This led to NHS bank work and gave her practical insight into supporting people during vulnerable and uncertain periods of their lives.

As her experience developed, she recognised that she wanted to build a long-term career combining clinical knowledge with compassionate, person-centred care.

Qualifying as a Registered Nurse

Debora began her nursing degree in 2014 and graduated in 2017 with a 2:1. She subsequently worked as a registered nurse within the NHS, including in surgical nursing.

This experience strengthened her clinical judgement, communication skills and understanding of risk. It also developed her ability to recognise deterioration, respond to changing needs, maintain accurate records and work effectively with individuals, families and multidisciplinary professionals.

Agency Nursing Experience

Debora later worked through agency nursing, supporting different healthcare services and adapting to a variety of clinical environments, teams and patient needs.

Working across different settings gave her a broader understanding of how healthcare organisations operate. She saw the importance of effective staffing, clear communication, strong leadership and ensuring that healthcare workers have the skills and support required to perform their roles safely.

Founding and Leading Kome Care

Debora founded Kome Care in 2020. Establishing the organisation required her to develop beyond her clinical role and build experience in service development, workforce management, safeguarding, quality assurance, regulatory compliance and clinical governance.

As Founder, Director, Registered Manager and Nominated Individual, Debora holds senior responsibility for the quality and safety of Kome Care’s regulated services.

Her responsibilities include overseeing safeguarding, risk management, clinical governance, service improvement and the systems supporting safe care delivery. She works alongside Kome Care’s care coordination, operational, quality and frontline teams to ensure they receive appropriate leadership, training and oversight.

Her journey from NHS work experience to registered nursing and organisational leadership continues to shape how she leads Kome Care today.
