Funding Options

Many families are surprised to discover that home care can be fully or partially funded. Below are the main routes to financial support in England, and our advisors can help you explore eligibility at no cost.

NHS Continuing Healthcare

Fully funded by the NHS for individuals whose primary care needs are health-based. Assessed via the Decision Support Tool (DST). We support you through the eligibility process and can be commissioned directly by your ICB.

Can be 100% funded

Local Authority Funded Care

If you qualify through a care needs assessment under the Care Act 2014, your council may fund part or all of your care. A financial means test applies, and the upper capital limit is currently £23,250.

Means-tested support

Direct Payments

If you qualify for local authority funding, you may receive a Direct Payment: a cash sum you control. You can choose Kome Care as your provider for flexibility and continuity.

Maximum flexibility

Attendance Allowance

A benefit for people aged 65+ who need help with personal care. Not means-tested. Paid at the lower rate (£72.65/week) or higher rate (£108.55/week). Can be used to directly offset care costs.

Not means-tested

Personal Independence Payment

For working-age adults (under 65) with a long-term health condition or disability. The daily living component of PIP can help cover care costs regardless of income or savings.

For working-age adults

Private / Self-Funded Care

Many families fund care privately via savings, property sale, equity release, or private insurance. We offer flexible packages with no long-term contracts. Payment is typically monthly in advance.

Maximum choice

Not sure which funding applies to you?

Our care advisors can walk you through every option, free of charge and with no obligation. We've helped hundreds of families access funding they didn't know they were entitled to.

Frequently Asked Questions

What you need to know about our rates, quotes, and billing, before you commit to anything.

Is there a minimum number of hours I have to book?
For scheduled domiciliary care visits, we ask for a minimum of 1 hour per visit. Live-in care has no hourly minimum, as it is a continuous, 24-hour arrangement. We will always try to fit around your preferred schedule and visit pattern.
Do you charge for the initial care assessment?
No. Our care needs assessment is free and without obligation. A registered nurse will visit you at home, or carry out a telephone assessment if you prefer, to understand your needs in full. You will receive a written care plan and personalised quote within 24 hours of the assessment.
How quickly can care start?
For standard domiciliary care, we aim to start within 48–72 hours of the assessment. For urgent hospital discharges, we can often mobilise within 24 hours. For same-day emergency situations, please call us directly on 02080 755966.
Can I change or cancel my care package?
Yes. Our standard notice period for changes or cancellations is 28 days for ongoing packages. For cancelling individual visits: more than 48 hours' notice attracts no charge; 24–48 hours' notice may attract 50% of the visit fee; less than 24 hours may attract the full visit fee. See our Terms & Conditions for full details.
How and when do I pay?
Invoices are issued monthly in arrears and are payable within 14 days. We accept BACS bank transfer, cheque, and standing order. For local authority and NHS Continuing Healthcare-funded arrangements, we invoice the commissioning body directly, so you won't receive an invoice if your care is fully funded.
Are the rates on this page guaranteed?
The rates on this page are indicative starting rates. Your actual rate depends on the type, complexity, frequency, and timing of care required. We will always give you a clear, written, itemised quote before any care begins, and we give existing clients at least 28 days' written notice of any rate changes.
