Background
One of our clients lives with Arthritis and experiences frequent pain and stiffness, which affects her ability to carry out daily activities independently. Tasks such as household chores and meal preparation had become increasingly difficult and physically demanding for her.
The Challenge
The client struggled with ongoing pain on most days, limiting her mobility and hand strength. Simple activities such as cleaning, preparing meals, and cutting vegetables became challenging and exhausting, affecting her comfort and quality of life.
Our Intervention
Our care team provided practical and compassionate support to help reduce the physical strain on the client and promote her wellbeing. This included:
Assisting with household chores to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment.
Supporting meal preparation, including helping to cut vegetables and prepare ingredients for cooking.
Encouraging the client to remain involved in activities as much as she was comfortably able to.
Providing support in a respectful and person-centred manner that maintained the client’s dignity and independence.
Offering companionship and reassurance during difficult days when pain levels were higher.
The Outcome
As a result of the support provided:
The client experienced reduced physical strain and discomfort during daily activities.
Meal preparation and household tasks became more manageable and less stressful.
The client was able to conserve energy and focus more on her wellbeing rather than struggling with physically demanding tasks.
She reported feeling more comfortable, supported, and reassured in her day-to-day life.
Impact
This case demonstrates how practical home care support can significantly improve the quality of life for individuals living with chronic pain conditions. By assisting with everyday activities and reducing physical stress, we were able to make daily living easier, safer, and more comfortable for the client.
